Ancrew says the most important thing you can do is negotiate salary by emphasizing the value and benefits you would bring to the employer:

  1. Know what success in the role looks like. Identify the goals the employer expects you to achieve in the role.

  2. Quantify the potential impact of your work (e.g., revenue generated, costs saved).

  3. Frame your counteroffer as an investment rather than just a cost.

  4. Reduce the employer’s perceived risk of losing you.
